Coach Walencewicz has been teaching in Catholic schools for the last 10 years. He spent his first 7 years at Sts. Simon and Jude in their middle school.  He is now at St. Joachim school in Costa Mesa teaching 4th grade and the Athletic Director. He started coaching freshman basketball at Mater Dei High School in 2010 thru 2022. He has 2 daughters who were both Edison HS graduates. Raina played both indoor and beach volleyball and earned a scholarship to row crew at the University of California, Berkeley. She graduated last year and is now at the University of Illinois, Chicago School of Medicine.  Malia graduated from Edison in 2019 and played soccer for Coach Mac. She is a senior at the University of San Diego and also earned a scholarship to play for their women’s soccer team.  In his free time, coach Walencewicz enjoys riding his bike at the beach, surfing, walking his 2 Labs (Kobe and Shaq), and vacationing in Kauai with his wife.
